On June 21, 2004 we received the following e-mail from Dave Kali's daughter, Maile.

Hey Tom,
This is Maile, David's daughter. You haven't met me, but I know all about you. Don't worry, all the stuff he told me was good.
I need to let you guys know that my dad suffered a catastrophic stroke yesterday and passed away. It was really quick, and the doctors tell me it was pretty painless for him. Can you help me spread the word with all the OCS guys? I don't have all you guys' email addresses. If I can get a mailing list, then I can fill you all in on the details.

David Ioane Kali June 19, 2004 David Ioane Kali, 65, of Honolulu, an attorney, died in Straub Clinic & Hospital. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Janis, son Damon, daughter Maile Reeves, brother Daniel I. and two grandchildren. Services: 5 p.m. Tuesday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Tabernacle on Beretania Street. Committal services: 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl. Aloha attire.
