OCFC George C. Wilson

A/2C George Wilson joined Echo Flt from McClelland AFB, CA where he served in a Special Weapons Recce unit. After OCS, Lt Wilson went to Harlingen AFB for nav tng, then to Mather AFB for EWO school. George crewed B-52s at Blytheville AFB, AR, until 1966 when he volunteered for the Wild Weasel program. "Mama told me not to do that," George recalls. After Nellis, Capt Wilson traveled to Takhli RTAFB, Thailand where he flew 113 missions (F-105) -- "no hits, no runs, lots of errors," he reports. "From there, I went straight to Korea in support of the Pueblo that had been captured by North Korea -- one of those one-time-good-deals." Capt. Wilson's next stop was at PACAF Hq in the Electronic Warfare Div supporting Wild Weasel ops in theater. He made major there and was assigned to TAC (Langley) with ACSC en route. LtCol Wilson was then assigned to Osan AB, Korea where he directed Ops's Exercise Div. In 1979, he returned to TAC to retire, a Lt Colonel w/2 Silver Stars, 2DFC, 13AM, 3MSM, more. "In 1979, I retired to attend Union Theological Seminary at Richmond, VA... graduated in 1983 with a Doctor of Ministry degree...accepted a church in Donalds, SC... been there since," George reports. He retired Sep, 2002 after 19 years and was named, "Pastor Emeritus." George loves gardening. woodworking, golf, reading, and swimming. Says he'll be doing "a little preaching if his voice returns." He and Pat have 3 children (one during OCS) and 5 grandchildren.
