SSgt Chuck Williams came to Echo Flt in Sep 1960. His military career started in the Texas National Guard (PFC) in 1954; his AF background was in maintenance (Chuck was a B-25 flight mechanic) on various aircraft. After OCS, Lt Williams went to Chanute for maint. officer training, then to Dyess AFB, TX (B-47, B-52 & KC-135 maint.). In 1964, he went to Sheppard for Titan I school en route to Lowry AFB, CO as a missile maint officer. After SOS, he moved to McConnell (via Sheppard for Titan II tng) in 1965. In 1968, Capt Williams was assigned to SAC Hq, as a missile staff officer. In 1971, he attended ACSC and went on to Korat RTAFB, Thailand in acft maintenance. In 1973, Major Williams went to Malmstrom in maintenance and then to Wright-Patt as a SAC rep on the B-1 program. From 1977- 80, Chuck was at Little Rock AFB as Asst DCM and missile maint squadron commander. LtCol Williams was then assigned to Hill AFB UT in ICBM maint/logistics. In 1982, Col Williams moved to F.E.Warren as Wing DCM (Minuteman). Chuck retired in 1984. Awds & Decs? "...the usual come-to-work-on-time stuff," Chuck writes. After retirement, Chuck worked for TRW for 7 years, followed by volunteer church planning/building for some years. "Now, totally retired," Chuck tells us. "Do a lot of RVing...hunt, fish, camp, collect guns, shoot, ham-radio ops, etc. Remembers most about OCS, "Posting of the final grades when I knew I would graduate!"
