Dale O. Walton

OCCapt Dale O. Walton

Mr. Walton was elected by his classmates as 5th Squadron Honor Council Representative. Upon graduation, 2Lt Walton was assigned to Harlingen AFB, Texas for Undergraduate Navigator Training. The AF Register tells of Dale entering the service in at the age of 19. He was promoted to LtCol in 1977, had a master's degree and a master navigator rating. This from Dale's wife, Virginia: "Dale retired in 1979 as Commander, 443 Trans Sq, Altus AFB, OK, Lt Colonel. He was Director of Maintenance, Fort Worth City Transit for 5 years. He then became a successful real estate agent until Dec 31, 2000. Dale died July 25, 2001 of lung cancer," she continues, "Dale's first wife died in 1983, Dale and I married in 1984. . . I did not know him while he was in the service. But he was military all the way; loved his assignments, loved his country and loved his God. I heard many . . .funny stories about school at Lackland. He was very proud of his life in the service of his country. His son likes to tell the story that when his dad entered the room, he, his little son, stood at attention, saluted and said, 'Yes, Sir, Sir!!!' (that probably held until he was a teenager). . .friends, family lost a most wonderful gentleman; true to his word, ethical, workaholic, dedicated to his children and grandchildren, and I would trust him with our lives. He was a true Christian man. I wish you success at your gathering."
