OC Capt John C. Shield

A/1C "Jack" Shield came to Delta Flt Sep '60, in Dec, he moved to 2nd Sq/Bravo Flt as Sq Ops & Tng Officer. Lt Shield was a distinguished graduate of OCS and was sent to Craig AFB, AL for pilot tng. From '62-'66, he flew C-133 Cargomasters with 39ATS/MAS at Dover AFB, DE. In '66, Jack was sent to Rhein-Main AB, Germany, a command post controller and Air Evac C-131 pilot. '69-'70 was spent in SEA -- Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam (C-7A Caribou). From '70 to '75, Jack was a C-5 Galaxy pilot at Dover. He served as chief/airlift command post, and wing staff positions. Major Shield retired in 1975. From '76 -'88, Jack worked for Flight Safety International, Inc as ground school and simulator instructor, directed training and standardization -- was an FAA Designated Flight Examiner and Facility Manager. '88-'99, Jack was a corporate pilot for U.S. Healthcare, Inc (Philadelphia) flying various aircraft. 1999 - present: "Retired and Loving it!"
