OCFC William G. Schanck

SSgt Bill Schanck came to Delta Flt, a radar operator from Lufkin, TX. In Dec, he joined 2nd Sq, Bravo Flt. On graduation, Lt Schanck went to Radar Maint Sch at Keesler en route to Nellis AFB, NV then Cannon AFB, NM where he served as a Elect Maint Officer. In '64, he was selected for nav tng at JCAFB in Waco, TX. After EWO tng at Mather, Bill was sent to Westover to crew B-52s (TDYs to Guam and Thailand). In '68, he was assigned B-58 DSO at Little Rock AFB, AR. From '69-'75, he flew B-52 (EWO) at Wright-Patt and Kincheloe AFB, MI. Major Schanck retired in '75 w/140 B-52 ArcLite msns. He's a volunteer AARP tax preparer and involved in church work. He and Barbara (wife of 46 years) have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. "The B-58 was my most interesting assignment, however, the aircraft was retired on the day I was taking my initial qual check," Bill recalls.
