OC Capt Norman K. Peterson

A/1C "Norm" Peterson joined Delta Flt from Larson AFB, WA. In Dec '60, OC Capt Peterson moved to the WheelHouse as OCS 2nd Group Admin/adjutant. Graduating in the top 40 of our class, Lt Peterson went to Harlingen AFB, TX for nav tng. Next stop: Mather for EWO school. Norm stayed on at Mather as an instructor. From '64 to '67, he was assigned to Weisbaden AFB, Germany. His combat tour in EB-66's was at Tak Li, Thailand ('67 -'68). From '68 - '72, Capt Peterson was at Shaw AFB, SC with Tac Air Recce Ctr (Hq, 9AF). After non-select for major, Norm enlisted and served at Nellis AFB, NV. Retired '76, a major w/DFC, MSM, 6AM, 3ACM, 85 cmbt msns. Norm's second career? "Professional student...used all my GI bill and then some," Norm writes. The next ten years were spent in Missouri schools -- Dr Peterson earned his PhD in Educ at Missouri Univ/Columbia in '86. From '85-'01, Norm was on the faculty at Missouri and Wyoming Univ. ('96, he completed Education for Ministry through Univ of the South and has been in the field of Spiritual Direction since. Norm married Carol in '86; he has 5 children, 2 step-children, 18 grandchildren (1 more soon) and a great-grandchild due in September. OCS claim-to-fame: Gained 20 lbs while a member of AFOCS 61-C!
