OCFC Walter J. McMahon II
| A/2C Walt McMahon was a Comm Specialist at Torrejon AB, SP when selected for OCS. He Joined Delta Flt in Sep '60. Walt graduated in the top half of our class; Lt McMahon was sent Keesler for Comm Off Crs. In '62, Walt served as Base Comm Officer at Nellis AFB NV. '63, he moved to Samsun, Turkey where he commanded TUSLOG 63-2. In '65 & '66, Capt McMahon was an IG inspector/Eastern Comm Region at Westover AFB, MA. It was AFIT '66-'68 (BSEE) and then to Taipei, Taiwan as MAAG advisor for Walt. In '70-'71, Maj McMahon attended Comm Staff Off Crs back at Keesler. From '71 to '74, he commanded the 1844EESq at Griffiss AFB, NY. In '74, Walt moved to Germany (Patch Barracks) with DCA-Europe. In 1977, LtCol McMahon returned to Griffiss(North Comm Area), retiring in '80, LtCol w/2MSM, JSCM, 2AFCM, GCM. After AF, Walt worked for Boeing from 1980 to '93 in Wichita, Griffiss, Seattle, Ormond Beach, FL, retired a senior engineer. He and Lorraine celebrate 44 years this year; they have 5 children, 8 grandchildren and love to visit them; enjoy biking, golf, model trains, and summers on Lake Ontario. |
