A/1C Bibb Kilpatrick's AF career started in 1955 at age 18. He married Cathy the same year. After OCS, Lt Kilpatrick went to Laredo for pilot tng; then to PIT at Randolph and was assigned to Craig AFB, AL, a T-37 IP. Capt Kilpatrick returned to Randolph at a PIT instructor. Bibb went to McDill AFB, FL next, tng for the F-4 -- followed by SEA assignment at Phu Cat, RVN for nine months; he finished his tour in Osan AB, Korea (Command Post). Stateside, he went to Moody AFB, GA as a T-38 IP and then spent 3 years commanding an electronics tng squadron at Chanute AFB, IL. Maj Kilpatrick's last tour was at 9AF Hq (planning section), Sumter, SC. He retired in 1979 with over 24 years of service. Post retirement: Back to his home town, Lynn Haven, FL, Bibb used the GI Bill to finish his Masters in Accounting. He started an accounting practice, then managed the Country Club for 2 1/2 years. Bibb then accepted a position with the Seminole County School Board/Business Dept and moved to central Florida. "Cathy and I both retired in 1998," Bibb writes. "She bowls--I play golf. We both read and have quite a library of paperbacks (many westerns)...have a complete collection of Louis L'Amour and all but two of Luke Short's novels...still looking. "We both like to travel, do lots of it...been in all 50 states, 19 foreign countries, 9 Carribean and 3 of the Azure Islands." Bibb and Cathy have two children.
Bibb has added the following: During my tour at Moody AFB Cathy attended Valdosta State College and got her teaching Degree and taught seventh grade until I was transferred to Chanute AFB. While we were there she got her Masters in Education from Univ. of Ill. at Champaign. She did this while teaching full time at a local elementary school. She continued to teach until 1998 when we both finally retired for good.
