A/2C Ed Higginbotham came to Coca Flt from Offutt AFB, NE. His AF career started in 1957 at age 17. In March 1961, Lt Higginbotham was sent to Keesler for tech school en route to Hutchinson AFS, KS as a maintenance officer. In 1964, Ed was assigned to Ophiem AFS, MT and then in 1966 became OIC Elect Branch, 2868 GEEIA Sq, at Elmendorf AFB, AK. In 1969, Capt Higginbotham returned to Keesler for staff officer course and moved on to Griffiss AFB, NY as OIC Maint Mgmt Br (Northern Comm Area). In 1972, Ed served as Chief of Maint, 19TASSq, Osan AB, Korea.. In 1973 & '74, he commanded Roanoke Rapids AFS, NC. 1974-1976, Maj Higginbotham commanded Cape Charles AFS, VA. His last AF job was as Chief of Maint/Elect Complex, Tyndal AFB, FL. He retired in July 1977. After retirement, Ed stayed with in the field and in Alaska -- King Salmon, Cape Newingham, Cold Bay and Tin City. He's done lot of work in the little theatre business in and around his home state of Louisiana. He currently Stat Chief, Oliktok Long Range Radar Station, AK. Ed says he "...was a cold-warrior, exclusively..." and retired with MSM, AFCM, and he remembers about OCS, "goody-gobbling every chance I got!"
