| A/3C "P.D," Darnell was an Air Policeman at Lackland when selected for OCS. As a former Texas Aggie he was accustomed to square meals and hazing. After OCS, Lt Darnell remained at Lackland a BMTS Tng Officer, followed by a tour with the Honor Guard in DC. In 1963 Phil was at Goodfellow AFB, TX and then NSA at Ft Meade, MD. In 1966, Capt Darnell went to Da nang, RVN, then to Waikkanaii, Japan. 1969-70, Phil was sent to Korat RTAFB, Thailand with the 553 Recce Sq. From 1970-74, he spent at Offutt AFB, NE. 1974-77 was spent in Athens, Greece. His last tour was at Eaker AFB, AR. He retired in 1982, a major w/AM and AFCM. Since retirement, Phil and Teddie (wed in 1967) have been active in civic and religious organizations. In 1993, they moved to Oklahoma City. Phil and Teddie have two children and 5 grandchildren. |
