TSgt "Art" Chambers AF career started in 1953 at age 19. Easily the biggest mister in Alpha Flight, he still didn't get any tackybirds from our upper class. In Dec 1960, Art became OC Captain and assisted the Wing O&T (along with Reg Maisey). After OCS, Lt Chambers went to Harlingen for nav tng and then to JCAFB for RIO school. EC-121s at McClelland followed (with SEA TDYs) and then K.I.Sawyer in F-101B, 1967 - 70. AC-130 gunships were the weapon of choice in 1971, followed by ACSC at Maxwell. Maj Chambers commanded the 753rd Radar Sq, 1972-74. He served at Tyndall, 1974-79 in Test Ops. LtCol Chambers was then assigned to the Pentagon (AS Plans and Policy), 1979-81. Col Chambers was Hancock Field, NY base commander, 1981-83. North Bay, Ontario was next. Art's duty, DCS NORAD Region, 1983-86. Retired in 1986 with 33 years. After AF, Art managed a Jiffy-Lube and helped his son-in-law start a construction business. Since 1990, he has been working on his golf game -- even moved to Florida for year-round practice. Art & Marilyn have three children and 9 grandchildren, "...(we've) been blessed with children and grandchildren who are all bright, solid citizens."
