SSgt Bruce Burrows joined Alpha Flight Sept 1960 but his AF career started in 1952, age 17 and included a Korean tour in 1953. He and Barbara were married in 1956. After OCS, Bruce went to navigator tng at Harlingen and then to RIO school at James Connally. In 1962, he was assigned to McClellan AFB, CA as an EC-121 (Airborne Early Warning Connie) navigator. He completed Bootstrap at Omaha in 1965 and in 1966 went to Vietnam in electric goons (EC-47) -- Tan son Nhut and Pleiku. 1968, Bruce went to Otis AFB, MA -- again in EC-121. Then in 1969, he increased his airspeed -- F-4E WSO in Soesterberg -- He stayed in the Netherlands until 1974 (and completed his Masters w/Ball State while there). In 1975, Major Burrows went to Luke AFB, AZ as a Weapons System Instructor in C/D Phantoms. From 1976 to 1978, he served at Hanscom AFB, MA as C&C Sys Test Director. Lt Col Burrows retired in 1978 with 5,500 flying hours (750 combat), a DFC, 6 AM, DoD MSM, AFCM and "other thingies." In 1978, Bruce became a corporate and civic whiz in Arizona. He flies a Debonair, does SCUBA and golfs. His daughter's family (2 grandkids) live nearby.
